Dear readers, it might only be the midway point of November but the Christmas holiday events are already popping up and there’s no end in sight until the New Year so we hope you enjoy! Scroll down and see what’s going on in the city this week.

🎥 CUFF.Docs Documentary Film Festival: This year’s edition of the festival boasts 16 features and nine shorts over five days. The lineup has just been unveiled so check out the list here and our picks. Nov 20-24 at the Globe.
🎭️ StoryBook Theatre’s Disney’s Beauty and the Beast: This production promises to sweep families into a world of magic, romance, and heart. Nov 22 to Dec 29 at the Beddington Theatre Arts Centre.
🎸 Blue Jay Sessions: This two-night series features holiday decor and holiday-inspired eats, drinks, and nightly lineups of Alberta singer-songwriters sharing their songs and stories—and a few holiday tunes too, of course! Nov 28-29 at the Prairie Emporium.
In December
🎤 The Andy Kim Christmas: The legendary Andy Kim leads a star-studded lineup of Canadian musicians in support of NMC's charitable initiatives, with all proceeds benefitting music and education programs. Dec 13 at the National Music Centre.
🎁 Holiday Market Collective: With more than 155 artisans, including 35% new and budding artists, there’s something for everyone at this seasonal favourite local market. Dec 6-8 and Dec 13-15 at the BMO Centre.
Happening this week and weekend
Friday and Saturday | Inglewood | 4-9pm
It’s the first weekend of two (also Nov 29 and 30) that you can enjoy the Inglewood Holiday Night Market and shop a variety of locally sourced and handmade vendors selling diverse goods, including handmade crafts, vintage clothing, antiques and collectibles, artisan eats, and more.
Friday-Jan 5 | Calgary Zoo/Wilder Institute | Various times
Experience the magic of twinkling lights and dazzling displays after hours and enjoy family-friendly ice skating, axe throwing, delicious treats, animal facts, and more at this annual holiday classic.
Monday-Dec 31 | Ricardo’s Hideaway | Check daily hours
This festive pop-up offers extravagant Christmas-themed cocktails in an elaborately-decorated, tropical setting at this 17th Ave bar that is known for its rum. Try cocktails such as the Jingle Bird, Merry Spritzmas, Sugar Plum Mai Tai, and A Snowball's Chance in Hilo, which is definitely made to share.
Bottlescrew Bill’s Trivia | Wednesday | 7pm
Trivia night is free at this downtown pub so grab some friends and test your knowledge.
Lemon Light Up Fundraiser | Thursday | 6:30-9:30pm
The Westley Hotel and the Love for Lewiston Foundation is hosting the third annual Lemon Light Up event to raise money to purchase equipment for a child with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Nov 14 at the Westley Hotel.
Millarville Christmas Market | Thursday-Sunday | Various times
Capture the magic of Christmas with food trucks, music, photos with Santa, face painting and so many new and popular seasonal vendors.
Art Market Craft Sale | Thursday-Sunday | Various times
This year’s event is jam-packed with live bands, live demonstrations, hourly draws for gift certificates, and more at the Telus Convention Centre.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun | Friday-Feb 2 | Various times
The girls are all here; the Andrews Sisters in the ’40s, the Spice Girls, The Supremes, The Pointer Sisters and more, Stage West’s latest puts the spotlight on the women who changed music. Nov 15 to Feb 2 at Stage West.
The Grape Escape | Friday and Saturday | 6-10pm
Sample everything from wine to spirits, and all the beer, seltzers and coolers in between. Don’t forget to bring your appetite, as there will be samples of appetizers, mains and desserts to satisfy.
