🎸 Calgary Folk Music Festival: The Calgary Folk Music 45th anniversary kicks off, featuring headlining performances by The Roots, KT Tunstall, Cowboy Junkies, Ben Howland, so many more. July 25–28 on Prince's Island Park.

🎆 GlobalFest Fireworks and Culture Festival: It’s never too early to mark it on your calendars and plan ahead for this popular annual fireworks festival. Aug 15-24 at Elliston Park.

Thursday to Sunday | Various times | The Grand

The Grand is proud to host the 26th annual Queer Art and Film Festival which highlights 15 artists, 33 short films, seven feature films, live music, and more over the course of four days.

Saturday | 5pm | McMahon Stadium

Catch a home game as the Calgary Stampeders host a regular season game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for a Saturday night lights game.

Monday | Gates 10am, Races 12pm | Millarville

Thoroughbred, Ladies’ Side-saddle, Stock Horse Races as well as three-legged, foot, and sack races for children. Enjoy this chance to dress up elegantly and watch some horses on Canada Day.

Video Game Collectors Show | Wednesday | 10am-4pm

Calgary’s largest video game event is back at the Acadia Recreation Complex with over 60 vendors to explore. Partial proceeds from admission will be donated to Skipping Stone. [$5] 

Shelf Life Books is eager to celebrate the accomplishments of Metis women with the book launch of Around The Kitchen Table that utilized community-based research to honour the interests, goals, and needs of Indigenous youth through a collection of stories. [Free to attend] 

Experience a meticulously curated five-course menu using rich French flavours paired with delectable French wines in an unforgettable evening highlighting the essence of French craftsmanship. [$154] 

Soak in the talent of extraordinary performers at the second iteration of this playful music festival that celebrates and highlights living composers, international, and local sound artists inside the beautiful space at Contemporary Calgary. [General ticket $67] 

Enjoy an evening of live entertainment and a silent auction at The Beer Shop where the Eastern Slopes Music Fest is hosting a sneak-peek event to raise funds for their upcoming music festival taking place on Aug 31. [$17] 

Wild Horse Pub Crab Fest | Friday | 7-10pm

Mouth-watering Boston Bibb lettuce, hard-boiled egg, double-smoked bacon, radish, grape tomatoes, baby shrimp, and citrus vinaigrette. That’s just to start. Then enjoy one pound of steamed snow crab clusters served with melted garlic butter, boiled new potatoes, asparagus, and a freshly baked bread roll. [$60] 

Remixed & Remastered: The Doom Generation | Friday-Saturday | Various times

The Globe Cinema presents the 1995 hit Sci-fi Thriller, The Doom Generation directed by queer visionary Gregg Araki in a newly edited 4K edition in a film that depicts the malaise of Gen-X in this zany film. [$13]

Springboard Performance: The GoldenCrust Family | Friday-Saturday | Various times

Get lost in the quirky, colourful world of Grace and Kevin, the odd-couple with whimsy, in a live performance of a story that is filled with special effects, puppetry, and an abundance of comedy and taking place at the containR Art Park and presented by containR Fest and Green Fools Theatre. [$13]

Luis Tovar Quartet | Friday | 10pm-1am

Calgary’s Jazz Collaborative is excited to present the Luis Tovar Quartet playing live at the Sandman Signature Downtown where Tovar will dazzle the audience with his positive energy and a unique combination of Venezuelan and Afro-Caribbean vibes. [General admission $15] 

With a fundraising goal of $50,000 the fifth annual Ride to Remember in support of The Alzheimer Society of Calgary is back at the Palace Theatre for an evening filled with live music, motorcycles, and a silent auction featuring locally sourced goods. [Starting at $55]

Summer Latin Party | Sunday | 2:30-10pm

Join Barcelona Tavern for a tropical themed party featuring the best Latin music and entertainment at this family friendly event. [$12] 

Summer Madness | Sunday | 6-11pm

Modern Love is celebrating the long weekend on their rooftop patio with a curated mix of beats to keep the party bumpin’ until sundown with games, activities and a dance floor. [$15] 

Sports Card Collector Show | Saturday | 10am-4pm

New Horizon Mall and Overtime Sports Cards & Grading are excited to host the Sports Card Collectors Show where everyone is welcome to explore the fascinating world of sports and learn about the athletes who made history. [Free to attend]
